AVG Antivirus Review

AVG is a powerful tool that comes with a range of features, excellent security against malware, and a solid performance in numerous tests. The free version comes with a couple of drawbacks, while the premium version has more features like a device optimization tool and VPN.

The malware scanner of the software uses machine learning and heuristics to identify and eliminate any potential threat, including trojans rootkits, trojans and Cryptojackers. It also protects you against ransomware-related attacks, phishing, and suspicious websites. AVG’s smart scanners are fast and complete. They highlight a variety of “advanced problems” which you can resolve now, like sensitive items that require password protection, a weak firewall, or a webcam that is not protected. It’s a bit more aggressive than other premium antivirus software in this respect and will prompt you to purchase its paid flavor when you click on any of these issues.

Its AV Test results are generally excellent. It was able to identify and block 100% of the malware during March and April 2022 testing. However its performance in detecting 0-day attacks lags behind some of the other top-rated products I’ve tested and it may slow the system.

The free version comes with email and website protection Identity theft monitoring for passwords that were leaked and photo vault features. Additionally, the free AVG Cleaner utility helps speed up devices by removing junk files. The premium version enhances the security features with webcam protection and ransomware more secure banking and an enhanced firewall. It also comes with performance tuning feature that speeds up your PC and helps extend battery, and a VPN for privacy online.
